Flying like a...butterfly?!
We have had a fabulous morning on our mini beast adventure! We have painted, created, built, worked as a team, face painted, ate snacks, created potions, hunted for mini beasts, made bracelets and more!
Developing our fine motor strength and skills.
We have been using cotton buds and our finger strength to press and mark mark in the paint pouches. The paint was squashy, thick and difficult to press into the shapes but we persevered!
Under the sea!
We have been enjoying learning around the story 'Sharing a Shell.' We explored the textures and materials in our under the sea themed tray. There were anemones, coral and sea creatures to find. We have been learning about the oceans that surround the land on planet Earth.
Big muscle development!
Look at us developing and building our shoulder, arm and hand strength! We have been working hard to build our gross motor muscles and strength this morning! We used the brushes to sweep soapy water and made rivers, we used spray bottles and stencils to make patterns on the playground and we built…
A visit from Bob at The Lichfield Litter Legends!
We have had a lovely visit from Bob at the Lichfield Litter Legends! He taught us all about caring for the environment, the word biodegradable and told us lots of stories about his litter picking adventures! The children sat and listened beautifully. Well done class one!
Sharing equally in maths!
We used raisins in our maths today to explore sharing fairly and equally. We placed 10 raisins on a tens frame. We knew the tens frame needed to be full to make 10. We talked about and noticed odd and even and part/whole. Then we shared the raisins between 2 groups and discussed dividing fairly…
Raspberry picking!
We really enjoyed working as a team to pick raspberries this afternoon! We are going to have them at snack time tomorrow. We can’t wait to try them! We love growing and trying our own produce at St Mary’s!
Creating a colourful butterfly as a team!
We used our fine motor skills to pinch pipettes and press circular sponges onto cotton wool to create a tie dye butterfly as a team!
Releasing the tadpoles and froglets!
Today we looked closely at the tadpoles and how they have changed. Some had legs and the tail has shrunk! We released the tadpoles and froglets into the school pond. We used words like oxygenated and amphibian as we learned all about frogs and the plants in the pond!
Symmetrical butterflies!
We created symmetrical butterflies using paint, circle shaped sponges and pressed the paper down in half to print a symmetrical pattern! We subitised the spots along the way!
Bathing Ralph!
Today Ralph came to visit us and we all got to work as a team to give him a relaxing bath. We were very gentle and learned more about caring for a dog as we bathed him. Ralph shook off the water on his coat and soaked us!
The Tiger that Came to Tea!
We decorated our own tiger biscuits for our tiger tea party! We used our fine motor skills to squeeze the icing pen and spread the orange icing. We hope the greedy tiger doesn't gobble, munch and scoff them!
