Space Tiles
In art this week we have been designed a space themed tile: Today we used our design to make our tile out of clay.
Animation with Leon
This afternoon we had a visit from Leo who did an animation workshop with us. We learnt all about his career in animation and the characters and films that he has created. We then had a go at creating faces, putting together a scene and drawing Archie the dog.
Valentines Day Maths
In maths today we used our number bonds to10 to help us with our addition to the next multiple of 10. We looked for the number bond to 10 ‘the two numbers that love each other’ to help us work out the addition. Well done Year 2!
Painting our pots
In art today we got creative and had great fun painting our coil pots.
The International Space Centre
We had a fantastic day today at ‘ The International Space Station’. The children were impeccably behaved and were a credit to our school. More photos to follow…
Story Time in Class 2
On a Friday our Year 2 children take it in turns to choose and read a story to the class before lunch.
The Coil Method
In art today we used the coil method to make a pot out of clay.
Making Music
In music today we have been learning to play the notes G A B on the glockenspiel. We played a variety of different tunes together and then we composed our own pieces in pairs. We made a lot of noise!
We can make a pattern with 3D shapes!
In maths today we used the construction resources in our outdoor area to make a 3D shape pattern. We discovered that every day objects are 3D shapes. We used bricks and crates for cuboids and pipes for cylinders. We also worked well as a team.
Happy Chinese New Year
In Class 2 the children made traditional ‘Chinese Red Envelopes’ in celebration of Chinese New Year!
Faces, edges and vertices
In maths today we were looking at the properties of 3D shapes. We made our own shape so that we could explore the number many faces, edges and vertices.
