Class 2

Class 2 enjoyed learning about what the Christingle represents in RE today. We then made our own Christingles in preparation for our service in church this afternoon. 

Well done to all of the children who took part in our Nativity performance on Tuesday. You were all amazing !!!

In RE today we have been learning about Advent and the significance of the Advent Wreath. Two of our children did some beautiful art work on the different coloured candles and their meaning. 

Tomorrow we will be having a very festive day, wearing our christmas jumpers and having a delicious Christmas dinner. A fun celebration at St Mary's, please join in by wearing your jumpers.

In maths this week we have been partitioning numbers to 100. We used the part whole model to support our understanding and today we moved one step further and partitioned on the place value chart. 

In English today we worked with a partner to sequence a set of instructions on how to build a snowman. We used our prior knowledge of time conjunctions and imperative verbs to help us. 

Today in English we looked at the features of instructions. We worked with a partner to spot imperative verbs and time conjunctions. 

In RE today we have been learning about Diwali the Festival of Light that is celebrated by Sikhs and Hindus. We made Diva lamps out of clay. 

In history/English we have been learning about the story of Guy Fawkes and The Gunpowder Plot. Today we wrote wanted posters to help the king find Guy Fawkes.

Today in art we started our final ‘printing’ priced of work. In this lesson we chose leaves to make a repeating  pattern frame to surround our work.

I’m maths today we worked in pairs to find number bonds to 20. we used our knowledge of number bonds to 10 to do this in a systematic way. 

In art we have been learning about printing and patterns. Today we made our own motifs that we are going to use create our own pattern inspired art.
