Happy Diwali!
This week, we have been learning all about Diwali, the Festival of Lights. We have made diya lamps with clay, created Rangoli patterns, written Diwali cards and made some traditional sweets called coconut barfi. We hope you enjoy looking through our pictures!
Autumn Forest School

Art take two
Today in art we used our rubbings from yesterday to create our own pictures.
Pumpkin Fun
This week we have had lots of messy pumpkin fun. We have scooped out the seeds andused hammers to hammer sticks into the pumpkins. We are hoping to grow our own pumpkins using the seeds we have scooped out of these. We also enjoyed decorating spooky biscuits and painting pumpkins.
Finding a part
Today in maths Year 1 used hoops and balls to find the missing part. They then wrote number sentences to match their part whole models.
Addition Problems
Year 1 have been solving a variety of different addition problems. They have used a variety of methods to help them including the number line, tens frames and the part whole model.
Maths Champions
Today Ms Stretton set Year 1 a challenge ‘How many number bonds to 10 can you find in 5 minutes?’ We had a winning pair. Well done!
Class 2 Art
In art today Class 2 were taking rubbings in our outdoor classroom. We talked about pattern and texture and began to think how we could produce a piece of art work using our rubbings.
Bug hunting
We have had a great time searching for mini beasts by carefully thinking about which micro-habitats they might live in.
Circuits
This week we have finished our DT projects. After spending several weeks coming up with designs, planning our designs, testing circuits and then putting it all together.
We had some issues getting circuits to work but persevered, had another go, and we are really pleased with the outcomes.

Green manure?
We spent some time outside gardening today, enjoying the fresh air, chatting and keeping active: all part of day to day life at school and to help with our work on mental health this week. We even learnt about Green manure and it’s use for making the soil in our raised beds richer.
