After Christmas we have some exciting topics coming up in Class 2
In English we will be learning, reading and writing based on Katie in London and writing guides based on Paddington’s Guide to London.
In Maths Year 2 will continue to learn about money and multiplication and division, shape and fractions. Year 1 will learn about adding and subtracting numbers to 20, place value to 50 and measurement.

In Geography we will learn about the United Kingdom, the countries that make it and their capital cities.
In Art we will learn about sketching, using different graded pencils, shading, marking making and line.
In RE we will learn about gospel, who Jesus chose as his disciples and the good news that he spread.
PE will be dance.
In science we will learn about plants, how they grow, the parts of plants, different types of plants and trees.
Year 2s will start to learn how to use apostrophes in their writing. We will learn how to use apostrophes for contractions. E.g. it is = it’s and can not = can’t
We will also learn how to use apostrophes for possession. E.g. It is Sam’s bag.
I’m anticipating apostrophes being tricky so any support you can give at home would be amazing. I will put some links on a blog when we have started learning about it in school.
I will set up new Education City games for all children over the holiday so please continue to use them as much as possible.
