Class 1

Class one have enjoyed running their own hot chocolate shop in class one! We poured warm, velvety hot chocolate and added giant, fluffy marshmallows. There has been some super talking and vocabulary used! 

We have enjoyed exploring creating pumpkin artwork in the style of Yayoi Kusama.

We used bright colours and black spots to add spotty detail to our pumpkins. 

We used dough to create 5 little pumpkins sitting on the wall for our five frame!

We found one less each time one fell off the wall. We smashed the pumpkin with our hand. 

We also represented the amount using numbers and tallies.

We have been using dough disco to help us improve our finger strength and muscle development. We created flower shapes by pressing the dough, snail shells by curling the dough and we enjoyed moving the dough to our favourite songs and rhymes! Give dough disco a go together at home using our dough…

Reception have started to learn more about 1,2 and 3. We have made the amounts on 5 frames, drawn pictures, showed amounts on fingers, looked at the matching numbers, looked at dice patterns and subitised. We played make a team of 1,2 and 3! The children also explored 1,2 and 3 during learning…

Today in science we were investigating what a fire needs to continue to burn! We learnt that fire needs heat, oxygen and fuel. We made predictions as to what would be a good fuel to add to a fire and would not be. It was very exciting seeing what would set on fire.

Today we read the traditional tale of The Three Little Pigs. We retold the story through small world play and role play. We also drew pigs, build houses sign large and small construction toys, sequenced the story, heard a musical version of the story and then read another version of the story…

We retold the creation story through role play, movement and rhyme. We went in the dark tent and into the light, we felt water, became birds, explored the natural environment, drew the moon, stars and sun, moved like an animals and rested. We lit a candle and said a prayer outside. What a lovely…

We have worked alongside the whole school to create crosses and school value stones for our forest school reflection and prayer garden. We can be calm here, be with nature and be spiritual in nature. 

Today we have been learning about germs and how they can make us poorly. We used an experiment to show how soap fights germs! We learned how to wash our hands well using soap. We counted up to 20. We lathered the soap and it was frothy and bubbly! 

Reception have been learning about size and sorting and matching by size in maths! We used a variety of vocabulary e.g massive, large, huge, gigantic, mini, tiny, small and miniature. Well done Reception!

Today Reception learned about the VIP God! The Creator! We read the Creation story and then we took a walk around the school. We visited the big Bible Frieze. We found the Creation section. We spotted fish, Adam and Eve, sea creatures and a giraffe! All of God's amazing creations! We then walked…
