An oi treasure hunt in phonics!
Today we had to search for lots of oi words in the sand and read them! We also discovered some words with other digraphs and trigraphs hidden in them and some sentences to read! We collected and arranged the coins on tens frames to see how many we had read as a team!
Making butter!
We poured think double cream into a jar and turned it into butter by shaking it as fast as we could as a team! We needed our strong muscles to shake the cream inside the jar. The buttermilk separated from the big lump of yellow butter inside the jar. We tried the creamy butter on some soft bread…
Meeting 9 day old chicks!
We had some 9 day old chicks visit us in class one. We learned about the food they eat and the life cycle of a chick. The chicks were fluffy, had sharp nails and cheeped!
Exploring 3D shape properties!
We printed 3D shapes to look closely at the faces and other properties of the 3D shapes. We also explored sliding, rolling and stacking them!
Class 1's Easter Cross
This week we finished our Easter unit with a cross, made from recycled materials, ready to hang in our faith corner. Well done all, it looks beautiful!
Easter drawing and writing!
We have been drawing Easter and spring themed pictures and learning how to write Easter themed words.
Class 1's Trip to the Farm!
This week, Class 1 have been to the farm. We made bread, collected eggs from the hens, and saw lots of animals!
Making aqua foam!
Today we used a whisk to create aqua foam using chick pea water, cream of tartar and food colouring. We used it in our potions and mud kitchen creations!
Independent writing during learning through play!
Today lots of children visited the writing table and the additional phonics resources around the classroom. It was amazing to see lots of children using their phonics skills independently as they chose to write words and sentences. Well done class one!
The 3 Pigs' House
Today the children are using their friendship, teamwork, perseverance, questioning and reasoning skills to build a house! We're hoping that it is strong enough to protect us from the Big Bad Wolf.
Jack and the beanstalk magic beans!
Today we created our own magic beans for Jack to use to grow a beanstalk! We used lots of colours, shapes and patterns!
Gingerbread experiment
Today we are going to experiment with gingerbread. After reading the Gingerbread man, we are going to question what would happen to him if he fell in the river. We will make predictions. We will question what would happen if he fell into different liquids? We will make hypotheses. We will observe…
