Village Walk
Today Year 2 went on a walk around Colton to have a look at some of the buildings we have learnt about in our history topic.
Paired Reading
Class 2 had a lovely to e this afternoon reading their books to Class 4. It was lovely to see the older children supporting them with their learning.
Number Lines in the sunshine
In maths this week Year 1 are looking at Place Value with 100. Today we made our own number lines and used them to count forwards and backwards.
Reception Transition
Reception enjoyed coming into Class 2 for some more transition time today. We did a maths lesson where we built numbers on the tens frame and counted objects within 10. We then had a go at recording our answers.
Sarah Forbes Bonetta
In history class 2 have have been learning about the life of Queen Victoria's God Daughter Sarah Forbes Bonetta who was rescued from slavery and brought to England. Today we were thinking about her significance in British history and writing down our ideas.
Tens and Ones
In maths today Year 1 have been using concrete resources to partition two digit numbers into tens and ones.
Class 2’s Caterpillars
In Class 2 we have enjoyed watching our caterpillars grow. Today they are beginning to turn into a chrysalis.
Conjunction Conundrum
In English we have been basing our work on The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. Today we were working with a partner to match two clauses with the correct conjunction.

Today in maths today our Year 2 are using concrete resources to help the work out the time past the hour.
Creative Collage
In art this half term we are looking at colour and collage. Yesterday we sketched a bird and today we used a variety of magazines and newspapers to choose and add colour to our pictures.
Spot the suffix
In English we have been looking at The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. We have been exploring the difference in the language as the story was first published in 1902. Today we worked with a partner to spot the suffixes in the text.
More fun with fractions
Today in maths Year 1 have been cutting bread and pancakes into quarters, understanding that a 1/4 is one of four equal parts.
