Super Writing!
Our Year 1 children have been working so hard on their writing over the last couple of weeks. We have been practicing making our letters a little bit smaller and sitting them on the line.
Today we wrote some fantastic sentences related to our story ‘Little Red Riding Hood’.

Understanding 11-15
Today in maths we have been looking at the numbers 11-15. To help us partition the numbers into tens and ones we made our own part whole models with a partner. We then used these and the base 10 to find out how many tens and ones there are in each number. We are going to use the tomorrow to help…
Understanding 10
In maths today we used the ten frames to see how many different ways we could make 10 using three different coloured counters.
The Lost Son
In RE today we have been learning about parables and the teachings of Jesus. Today we used our drama skills to act out the story of The Lost Son.
Mass in Maths
In maths today Year 1 have been using yer balance scales to compare the mass of classroom objects and work out mass using cubes. We used language such as heavier, lighter and balanced.
Dance and Drama
Two of our Class 2 children ready for the Dance and Drama Club Show. They were both absolutely fantastic in the performance and proved how talented our Key Stage 1 pupils are. Well done!
The Great Dragon Rescue
In English we have been basing our writing on the story ‘The Great Dragon Rescue’ by M P Robertson. Today we have been writing independently retelling the story.
Parachute Fun
In PE today we got the parachute and played a game about pirates in the sunshine.
Outdoor Learning Day
Class 2 had a fantastic day on our outdoor learning day. We had a maths themed day where we looked at height and length, mass, capacity and position and direction. It was lovely to welcome our friends from Richard Crosse and have the opportunity to learn and play with them.
Finding a quarter of a quantity
In maths Year 1 have been learning about fractions, looking at halves and quarters. Today we used the part whole model to help us work out a quarter of a quantity.
Descriptions of the witch
In English Class 2 are basing their writing on the book ‘The Great Dragon Rescue’ by M P Robertson. Today they have been writing descriptions of the witch in the story. Year 1 have been using simple adjectives and Year 2 have been adding expanded noun phrases. It is lovely to see our Year 1…
Edit and Improve
This week in English we have been writing non chronological reports about penguins. Today Year 2 worked in pairs to peer assess each other’s work. They then chose a section of their work to edit and improve, adding sentence openers and generalisers to make their writing even better!
