Class 1 Home Learning Timetable Thursday 21st January
Good morning class one,
There was some amazing maths happening yesterday! You also used your sense of touch to explored soft and hard objects and sorted them!
There is some brilliant home learning happening! It is great to see that you are relaxing, exercising, colouring, baking and playing with your favourite toys too!
Remember to send photos and videos using class dojo portfolio and Google classroom so that we can see how your learning has been going.
I am here to help so please let me know if you need anything.
Input 1: 9:30am-We would like to see everyone at 9:30am for this online session.
Mrs Coleman- Harris will lead this session for all of Reception and Nursery together.
Today we are going to be developing our maths skills. Nursery and Reception will explore learning more about weight together today. Below are a variety of weight themed activities to try out with different equipment and a range of questions to ask to extend your children's thinking as you explore the activities. Join me online at 9:30am to find out some more about weight!
Through our learning today we will develop our maths, thinking, reasoning and problem solving skills.
Here are your challenges for after our online session this morning;
If you have balance scales at home you could explore finding objects to balance the scales until you have the same weight in both sides. You could explore adding more objects to make the lighter side of the scales heavier. How could you make it heavier?
If you have a set of Numicon at home explore what happens when you put the same piece in each side of the scales. What if you put different pieces in? Can you balance the scales using the Numicon pieces?
Reception have a go at playing Seesaw Shenanigans here- https://nrich.maths.org/14796 Who is heavier? the heaviest? Who is the lightest? lighter? How do you know?
Remember to take some photos or a video of your learning and send it to us on Google classroom or dojo portfolio.

Reception maths learning
Reception can work through the White Rose Maths home learning resources across the week here. You might like to work on one video a day. These mini video lessons support and help the Reception children to develop all of the maths we have been learning in class. Please follow what we are learning in the online sessions and the sessions on the white rose maths page for reception. These sessions are building on the children's previous learning and helping them to develop a deeper understanding of maths. https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/early-years/alive-in-5-week-3/
