Earth Day at the National Memorial Arboretum
We had a fantastic time at the Arboretum for Earth Day. We learnt about plastic pollution, upcycling and biodiversity. The staff at the Arboretum were so impressed with Class 3’s beautiful manners and exceptional behaviour and attitude! Well done Class 3!
Skeletons
In science we have been learning about the human skeleton. This week, we learnt about the different bones in our hands. Next week, we are going to make bionic hands so watch this space!
Great Fire of London Day

Music Time
In music today we have been learning about graphic notation. We used this method of composing to create a piece linked to our story Grandads Island. We composed our pieces in pairs and enjoyed practising and performing them to the class.
Maths on Wednesday
In maths today the Year 6 children have looked at problems involving factions and decimals.
Maths on Tuesday
Today we have been looking at answering money problems in maths. Year 6 were able to calculate multi-step problems using decimals and use the inverse operation to check their answers.

Creating hens using shapes!
We used our cutting skills to cut out the shapes and assemble them into a hen!
Monday Morning Maths
In Maths today we have been revising how to find volume, we have been able to calculate length x width x height to find volumes of given shapes.

Planting season is here.
We have had a very productive first week back at St Mary’s. We have been busy planting our wildflowers, beans, peas, lettuce, broccoli and turnips. Class One have also created some beautiful nature art whilst learning about dandelions.
Mass and Capacity
In Maths we have started a new unit on mass and capacity. Today we revised our prior learning to ensure that we remembered all of the key skills and vocabulary that we have already learnt. Miss Lukat was very impressed!
Art- Escher
In Art this afternoon we have been learning about the famous sculptor Escher. We have attempted to use his style of tessellation to create artwork. Well done Class 4!
Friday Morning Maths
In maths today we have been looking at translating and reflecting shapes.
We have been metacognitive as we remembered that we need to write the ‘x’ coordinates before we write the ‘y’. We used the saying along the corridor and then up/down the stairs to help us.
