Class 1 Home Learning Timetable Thursday 28th January

Good morning class one,

We had some amazing maths happening yesterday and it's time for some more maths today!

Remember to send photos and videos using class dojo portfolio and Google classroom so that we can see how your learning has been going. 

I am here to help so please let me know if you need anything. 

 

Input 1: 9:30am-We would like to see everyone at 9:30am for this online session.

Mrs Coleman- Harris will lead this session for all of Reception and Nursery together.

Today we are going to be developing our maths skills. Nursery and Reception will have some different activities to work on today to help them develop their maths skills. 

We will start off with a maths activity together at 9:30am. 

I will then set Nursery's maths challenge, continue online learning with Reception for a while and then set Reception off on their challenge. Join me online at 9:30am to find out some more!

Here are your challenges for after our online session this morning;

Nursery

Nursery are going to explore shape some more today. You can name the shapes but don't worry too much about getting your child to memorise the names of the shapes. We want to build the children's understanding of shape properties and give them a deep understanding of each shapes properties and space too. Can you build some shapes? You could use sticks outside, lolly sticks inside, or use tape to make the outlines and then put Duplo on top to build the shape. Can you talk about the properties together for example you might talk about the curves, straight sides, and what you see (you can subitise with shape too!) . "I see 4 sides!"   "I see a curve." 

This activity could be extended by combining different shapes together to build a picture. Have a go!

You might like to sing some shape songs or talk about the Numberblocks flat land episode together too.

Here are some more maths resources for nursery to explore whenever you would like. Continue to work on subitising as this is a very important maths tool that will help them to master maths. 

Reception

Can you explore making 6,7 and 8 in different ways?

Reception maths learning- Would you like some more maths learning to complete at home? 

Reception can work through the White Rose Maths home learning resources across the week here. You might like to work on one video a day. These mini video lessons support and help the Reception children to develop all of the maths we have been learning in class. Please follow what we are learning in the online sessions and the sessions on the white rose maths page for reception. Here are some more things to keep you busy this week.

Capacity

Following our maths learning last week can you continue to explore capacity this week?

You could explore capacity in the bath, create a role play drinks shop, make potions, use water, rice, cotton wool- anything you would like!

Use capacity vocabulary such as; full, empty, half full, half empty, nearly empty, nearly full.

Can you order by capacity? Order from the container that has the most inside to the least inside or the container that can hold the most to the container that can hold the least.

Can you count the scoops of water/rice/cotton wool it takes to fill each container?

  

 

Can you describe and write words to describe your favourite bear?

Nursery can you decorate them with up to 5 decorations? What do you see? Can you subitise?

Reception can you decorate the dominoes with different ways to make 6,7 and 8?
