Class 2

In English we're going to write recounts about our morning in Forest school. We had lots of fun doing a scavenger hunt, finding colours in nature, drinking hot chocolate and making habitats for minibeasts. 

What a fun den building session in forest school today!

This week Year 2 have been learning that when a word ends in CVC (consonant vowel consonant) you need to double it to add a suffix. 

Examples: 

run+ing = running

hop+ed=hopped

skip+ing=skipping

Year 2 have been learning split digraph sounds:

o_e, i_e, a_e,…

We've been using concrete resources to compare numbers in our outdoor area.

We made some wonderful pumpkin soup and retold the story in our outdoor area.

We've been using comparison signs and numicon this morning in Maths.

In May Year 2 will take part in the End of Key Stage 1 SATs. These books are excellent for helping children to prepare for the SAT's. Please complete 1 test in each book every week. Please let your child have a go by themselves and then talk to them about the answers. We will then work through it…

We've been getting ready for the Harvest service by learning about Asia.

One of our amazing forest school sessions with Miss Wood

We've been discussing what plants and animals need from their habitats. We then talked about micro habitats and tried to find minibeasts in the habitats outside.

Class 2's first Forest School group of the year went out yesterday and had a fantastic time with Miss Wood. Please make sure that children have warm outdoor clothes and wellies in school. A small group will be going out each week on a rota.
