Plants
In science we have been learning about plants and today we looked at the different parts of a flower. We used the magnifying glasses to investigate further finding out that each part has a different job to do.
IT - Labels
In IT today Year 1 have been learning about the importance of labels. We had a label hunt around the classroom and then we sorted objects into different categories by using a label to help us.
What do plants need to grow?
We had a great time this morning investigating what plants needs in order to grow. We even managed some drama to show the stages of growth!
We have been creating moving dragons to celebrate Chinese New Year!
We created our own dragon masks and moving dragons! We used the, to create a dragon dance. We have really enjoyed learning more about Chinese New Year!
Anglo-Saxon baking
Today we have been learning about the diet of the Anglo-Saxons. We learnt that they hunted for and grew their own food. We also learnt that sugar cane had not yet reached Europe, so they used honey and dried fruit to sweeten their food. We made honey shortbread - it was delicious!
Good Foundations

Money, money, money …
In maths Year 2 have been using the resources to help them count money in pence. They have used their prior knowledge of counting in twos, fives and tens to help them.
Baking pineapple cakes and banana bread!
Today we have been learning around the story of Handa’s Surprise. We have baked our own banana bread and pineapple cakes! There was lots of super teamwork, sharing and lots of opportunities to develop our fine motor skills. Well done class one!
