Class 2

This morning Year 2 have been weighing using balance scales. We placed objects in one side of the scales and weights in the other side to work out how heavy each object is and record it. Great teamwork!

We took guided reading outside this afternoon and read our books in the sun. E were reading about sea creatures and plants. 

Our dishwasher is broken at the moment, please could you send a water bottle into school with your child. Thank you for your support.

Year 1 have been revising the ‘oi’ sound in phonics. Can you think of any words using the ‘oi’ or ‘oy’ spelling? There are some phonics activities and resources on our class page, please have a look at them and practise the phonics sounds at home.

Today we watered and weeded the class’ vegetable patch and the school’s raised beds. We had lots of stops to drink and sit in the shade.

This week we’ve been writing about Peter Rabbit and Mr McGregor in English. We’ve written top trumps for the contrasting character. Great creativity Class 2!

We have had a lot of fun today! We wrote our own Tinga Tinga tales earlier in the week and today we published them into our independent writing books. We used chalk pastels to create African sunsets and then stuck on our giraffes and elephants.

Today we went for a weather walk. We looked for signs this the season and talked about how the weather isn’t showing what we would expect to see in the spring/summer.

We were very lucky to have a visit from the Litter Legends this morning. We listened to a story about Lennie and then talked about where litter goes and how it damages the environment. We looked at some litter and and equipment we can use to pick it up. 

We had so much fun gardening today. Luckily the weather was nice and we were able to weed and use the compost box. We also turned outer the soil, planted butternut squashes and watered them. We can’t wait to see them grow! Great resilience Class 2!
